Family Fun Day, July 2008
Today was our first trip to the Shepherd Lake recreational area in Ringwood, NJ for 2008, and the weather was very accommodating.
My wife took the opportunity to get some rest in the sun, because she wasn't feeling up to playing any games or -- heaven forbid! -- going boating.
And so, she rested. (BTW, she promised that she would injure me if I posted any of the pictures I took of her sleeping onto Facebook. So, I won't. You'll notice, that this isn't Facebook.)
Because of the recent auto accident, we couldn't take the minivan to Shepherd Lake, so we didn't bother to carry our inflatable kayak with us this time. And, considering the temperature today, that was not a bad idea at all! I was roasting for much of the day. When my wife feels a bit better, and the weather cools down some more, we'll definitely head out on the water with kayak.
Still, there was much fun to be had in the water, and also with playing football. There was even some jump rope activities going on for a bit.
I'll be posting some of the pictures I took this coming week -- both here and on Facebook (except for any that would get me injured, of course).
Besides the people that came from our church, a couple of my old friends -- from way, way back -- came out with us as well. All in all, it was a great day, with lots of fun. Once again, we were blessed with great weather, despite a forecast that originally called for rain in the afternoon. The kids pretty much spent most of the day in the water, and I get quite a bit of relaxation. And my wife had some fun and lots of rest.
We're going back out there in August and September, and we expect to have more fun.
